Gavilan College Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Steve Nemeth as the new women's basketball coach. Steve has most recently been employed at CSU-Los Angeles where he has served their athletic department as the Athletic Facilities/Event Manager for the past two years.

Prior to CSU-LA, Steve worked at Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID as an assistant women's basketball coach as well as the Assistant Facilities Manager and Physical Education instructor.

Steve also served as the assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. from 1991-96. In the Bay Area from 1989-1991, he worked as an assistant coach under Bobby Burton at West Valley College.

He earned his Masters in Physical Education from Idaho State University in 1997 and his Bachelors in Health and Physical Education from the University of Montana-Missoula in 1989.

"One of areas that made me most attracted to Steve was his experience at the 4-year level" said Ron Hannon, Director of Gavilan College Athletics, "The ability to share his experiences as well as direct our women student-athletes to the next level to play basketball while earning their degrees is very important in the direction of our basketball program."

Steve Nemeth will begin work at Gaivilan College on August 13.
