Auditions for Shakespeare’s As You Like It, in a new adaptation by Randall Stuart, (Upon These Boards Theatre), Gavilan College Visiting Artist. Stuart will also conduct two weeks of vocal, text and acting workshops as part of the rehearsal process at Gavilan. Directed by Dr. John Lawton Haehl, all parts are open. Randall Stuart, Visiting Artist, Gavilan College Theatre Arts Program, Spring 2010 Randall Stuart has spent thirty years in American regional repertory theatre as a director and actor at many of the country's finest theaters & Shakespeare Festivals, and staged nationally recognized "epic theatre events", with casts as large as 100, including the award-winning 2003 LYSISTRATA PROJECT at Berkeley Rep. The work of his company Upon These Boards promotes and produces classical work as well as plays with a voice towards the future. Randall is also a visiting professor to Universities. Mr. Stuart's work includes productions at the American Conservatory Theater, Word for Word, Portland Opera, Shakespeare Santa Cruz and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, among others. This Spring Gavilan College welcomes Stuart as part of their Visiting Artist Series in Theatre & Performing Arts. Gavilan will produce Stuart’s new adaptation of Shakespeare’s As You Like It, and Stuart will spend several weeks at Gavilan during Spring Term 2010, conducting vocal, text and acting workshops for the Theatre Arts Program. “We are honored and delighted to welcome such wonderful artist to our community”, says Theatre Arts Program Director, Dr. John Lawton Haehl, “I’ve known Stuart and his amazing work as an educator, playwright and director for many years. This will be a tremendous opportunity for the cast of As You Like It, as well as the Theatre Arts acting students. Randall Stuart’s Honors: Recognized for a 30 year career in American Regional Theatre with several Critics Circle Awards in various performing arts & theatre direction categories. He is the Artistic Director of Upon These Boards. His directorial work was featured in the October 2009 TCG American Theatre Magazine. Randall also created and established Cerimon House, a Sanctuary for the Arts.
