Gavilan College NEWS this week - May 3, 2013
Walk for your health and donate funds to the Second Harvest Food Bank
The 3rd Annual Walk for Health event will be Friday, May 10th from 10am-1pm. Register in front of the Student Center on the day of the event. Anyone raising $10.00 or more in pledges will be eligible for a free t-shirt. It is open to everyone on campus and the community. Thank you for your support!
The Gavilan Library welcomes everyone to Throwback Thursday
Each week we will feature a picture from the Gavilan archives. In many cases we have no dates or names. That's where the Gavilan community gets to participate. Please visit the Library homepage (http://www.gavilan.edu/library) each Thursday and help us celebrate and sometimes recover pieces of our past.
Habits of Mind
If you haven't been to the HOM webpage recently, check it out for some great tips and tool on planning ahead. This month's theme is "Where do I go from here?"
After a first semester pilot of Gavilan’s Habits of Mind project, we’d really like your feedback. Completing the survey below will take less than five minutes—we promise!
GRADUATION is Friday, May 24!
The program begins at 6p. Board of Trustees members, administrators, faculty and students will line up between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the courtyard in front of the theater. Faculty may don their regalia in Humanities (HU) 101 and 102. The rooms will be locked once the graduation program begins. However, please DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS THERE!! Following the ceremony, faculty must return their rented regalia in the North Lounge. The Bookstore staff will collect all items on Saturday morning, so don’t take it with you! Please keep the bag your cap & gown came in.
Each staff member (both full time and part-time) of Gavilan College may request up to two tickets. These tickets are "Staff Only" and will be marked as such. Tickets will be distributed starting Wednesday, May 8th. Please send your request to Grace Cardinalli. Please note that, depending upon demand, we may not be able to accommodate all requests. We will try to be as equitable as possible. We have a large number of students graduating (over 900). Graduating students will have first priority.
Another way to see the event is to volunteer! Volunteers are needed to usher and collect tickets. If you can help, please contact Grace Cardinalli at ext. 4738.
