Communication Studies' Fundraisers As Service Learning Projects In CMUN 10

“Service learning is a method of teaching through which students apply their academic skills and knowledge to address real-life needs in their own communities,” as defined by New Horizons For Learning.

In our Small Group Communication classes at Gavilan College, students explore small group dynamics in relation to leadership, conflict, synergy, meeting facilitation, and much more! Throughout the semester, students learn how to effectively communicate in small groups and to put these valuable skills to use by means of a Service Learning Project. The Service Learning Project consists of students designing, coordinating, and facilitating their own projects, volunteering their time, and raising money for a campus or a local non-profit organization.
