The Philosophy Department is dedicated to the growth and development of learners as members of the community, both as critical thinkers and as agents for change. Change comes from re-examining beliefs about the one’s role in society, the moral framework of the individual and social institutions, and connection to others.
One of the primary definitions of term “philosophy” is: Love and pursuit of wisdom by intellectual means and moral self-discipline; however, while many philosophers have attempted to understand the world, the point, however, is to change it and become an active participant in society.
Therefore, the department strives to assist learners to apply its courses to life outside of the classroom as well as in their future academic life and career choices.
