What: Gavilan College's annual health & resource fair is free, open to the public, and offers services to anyone in the community. This event, which regularly draws over 1,500 visitors, is open to people of all ages (any of the free tests can be performed on children, as long as a parent or guardian is present).
Visitors will have an opportunity to speak with 42 representatives from local organizations including the Alzheimer’s Association, Community Health Partnership, Community Solutions, Discovery Counseling, Emmaus House, Eye C Optometry, Gardner Family Health Network, HeadStart, Informed Choices, Lion’s Club Vision Screening, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, Project Sentinel, Santa Clara County, ECCAC – Behavioral Health Services Department, Santa Clara County Health Crane Center, Santa Clara County, Substance Use Prevention Services, Santa Cruz County Veterans Center, Source Wise, Starlight REACH Program, Health Trust & Children’s Dental Center, LGBTQ Youth Space, Tobacco Free Communities – Public Health Santa Clara County, WIC Program of Santa Clara County, and the Gavilan College Allied Health Department, to name a few.
Visitors can also get referrals for counseling, be tested for blood pressure, blood glucose, and HIV / AIDS (which is confidential and involves no needles). The Gilroy Lions Club will also be offering free vision screenings by a licensed optometrist, and free pregnancy testing will be available for women 18 and up.
