What is ILL?

Interlibrary Loan is a service for Gavilan students, staff and faculty. The library can borrow a book or get a copy of an article from another library and then check it out to you.

This process takes about one to two weeks or, rarely, more (depending on the item being borrowed.) Please plan accordingly.

To request a book or article from another library you will need to submit your request in writing at the Reference Desk. We will need your library card number.

Please limit your ILL requests to 5 or less items.

To Request an item by ILL:

Get an ILL request form from the Librarian at the reference desk.

You will need the citation information for each item you want to borrow.

For an article, please bring a printout of the citation information from EbscoHost or other database you used to find the article information.

For a book, please bring in a printout with the publication information.
