How to Find Political Speeches

Web Sites:

Databases:

Using Proquest you can access the full text of many speeches, such as those included in Vital Speeches of the Day from 1975 on.   To find a speech, click on the link to the Proquest database.
  1. Click on the More Search Options link.
  2. Type in some words that you would find in the speech, for example the subject of the speech or the speaker.
  3. Then select “Speech” for the Article Type field.
  4. Be sure to check the box requiring full text availability.
  5. If you wish, you can also limit the speeches to a particular date range.
