The Computer Place provides computer access for all Gavilan students. The service is free, and no registration is required, but you must Log-In and Log-Out (we'll show you how, just ask!)

Intimidated by computers?
don't worry, our staff is very helpful and patient.

Feel free to ask for assistance - while we may not be able to answer every question or solve all your computer problems, we will do everything possible to make the use of the computers easy and successful.

We have 52 Pentium III computers, running Microsoft Windows,
(45 computers with Windows 98 2nd Edition and 7 with Windows XP),
with CD-Rom and Zip-100 drives.

We also have 4 Apple iMacs for students taking Digital Media classes.

   thesaurus, and English/Spanish dictionary)

 * Gavilan Spanish Review - lab program for all the
   Gavilan Spanish classes
Final Draft
 * A script-writing program
Adobe Photoshop
 * Photo and graphics editing program
Allied Health
 * Multiple programs to support the Gavilan
   Allied Health classes
Diet Analysis
 * for the Gavilan Nutrition class
Math programs
 * Minitab
* Scientific Notebook 		(Help for these programs is available in the Math Lab, PH-101)

Other services available
Flatbed scanner
 * scan pictures in color
* scan and convert text (OCR) to Ms Word, etc.
Color printing
 * there is a charge of 10¢ per page
Transparencies
 * free if you bring your own, 
   otherwise 25¢ per page


Pesky Rules and Regulations...
  • Food and drink are not allowed in the Computer Place
  • Logging in and out is required for funding purposes - no exceptions!
