Step 1:
Complete FAFSA, beginning January 1st, for the upcoming Fall term. Complete GPA Verification Form if necessary.
File by March 2nd for Cal Grant Deadline.
Step 2:
Student Aid Report is sent to student when FAFSA is processed.
Step 3:
Gavilan College receives FAFSA data, only if school was listed, from the US Department of Education.
Fee Waiver may be awarded, if you qualify.
Step 4:
Gavilan College sends a tracking letter requesting any additional documents.
If it appears you are not PELL eligible, you will be sent a denial letter.
Step 5:
Student returns required documents to Financial Aid Office.
It is the responsibility of the student to submit documents to the Financial Aid Office in a timely manner.
File is reviewed, discrepancies are resolved and eligibility is determined.
Step 6:
Award letter is sent to eligible students.
Grant checks are sent shortly after award letters.
Remember that missing or incomplete information will delay the processing time. |
