Online Counseling

Online counseling is available to anyone with internet and email access who is a prospective or current student at Gavilan College. Although a counselor can respond to your questions within two business days, you may want to first check the Frequently Asked Questions link because you may find the information you are seeking.

You may also want to check the Academic and the Student Services Department homepages for specific information regarding programs - you may find the answers to your questions quickly.

Online Counseling faculty can provide you with the following services:

  • How to use Self-Service Banner
  • Degree and Certificate Information
  • Schedule Planning
  • General Academic Advisement
  • General Education Options
  • Study Skills Strategies and Information
  • Referrals to Campus and Community Resources
  • Career Planning - initial steps
  • Prerequisites and Co-requisites Information
  • Transfer Information and Planning
  • Information Regarding Classes, Programs and Services

Students who wish to have an educational plan created, transcripts evaluated, confirm graduation status, or obtain transfer eligibility status must schedule an appointment to meet with a counselor in person. You must obtain your placement test scores, review grades, or discuss issues that require on-going discussion in person.
