PEDAGOGY PHILOSOPHY:
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

This quote crystallizes the notion of speech as a means of empowerment. A principle I weave throughout my courses is the concept that ideas mean nothing unless expressed meaningfully, and that words can shape thoughts, people, and movements. The goal of communication studies is to foster a community environment that allows students to fully understand and explore the role of oral and written communication on the private and public spheres. Students will develop essential skills necessary for personal and professional leadership, career advancement, and gaining a greater understanding of current events. With a background that also encompasses media production and journalism, I believe in using multimedia, audio, and video in all their variations to help enliven and enrich our collective classroom experience.
