About the Department
The Communication Studies Department program trains students in the methods of communication theory and application, providing a solid basis for students to go on to four-year programs in various fields related to the humanities and social sciences, or to careers in a variety of fields.
The department faculty comes from a variety of backgrounds and academic expertise, offering students differing perspectives and life experiences.
We offer a variety of degrees and certificates to meet the academic and professional needs of our students.
Our department also has a number of ways for students to be involved outside of the classroom. The CommClub offers students the opportunity to gain experience mentoring other students, tutoring, fundraising, and professional connections towards a professional career. The CommClub organizes events for students throughout the year including a student forum called Speakers Corner.
The CMUN 10: Small Group Communication course is offered with a service learning component option every semester for those students who desire to serve their community while gaining practical experience for their resumes.
Many of our alumni have gone on to earn their undergraduate degrees, and their professional careers.
