CGD2L Industrial Graphics Lab
1-4 units, 3-12hrs lab a wk
by arrangement.
Course Description: An open entry/exit
laboratory for students currently enrolled in CGD2 or Eng 1. Allows students
to work individually or in a cooperative learning environment on project
homework. A student may elect to enroll for more than the minimal hours
of lab for additional credit. May be repeated three times. Note:
This class structure allows for experimentation with various graphic processes,
including file exchanging between software for digital manipulation.
Course Prerequisites: Concurrent
enrollment in corresponding computer graphic and design classes.
Required Texts: As required by
subject content with instructor consent.
Required Course Materials: 3.5"
Diskettes & Zip 100 mb disks 8.5" X 11" Sketch Pad.
Units: This is a concurrent lab
course for corresponding CGD courses. It provides an alternative to independent
homework and improves a student's retention and access to instructional
guidance.
Class Objectives: This concurrent
lab provides a setting for students to work on cooperative educational
projects. The student may put up to two times the minimal hours for credit
which may be accounted towards apportionment. This accommodates a variety
of student speeds and styles. These lab hours allow students to arrange
their lab times around other classes offered on campus. Students can block
out given times to complete regular or assigned class projects.
Class work and schedule of content:
Student work is turned into the instructor upon completion for instructor
evaluation. Lectures and class demonstrations are linked to the class
progress and need. All student work is assembled into a student portfolio
Grading: Ability to apply various
software and manipulate the graphic image 80%. Student papers on selected
digital graphic subjects/process 10%. Classroom self management 10%. Extra
work and/or special projects are accepted as part of a student's grade.
Tests: Tests are administered at
the conclusion of each study area. Tests are performance involving drawing
on the computer.
Attendance: Students are expected
to attend the assigned class times and arranged lab times. Failing to
attend will result in incomplete projects and drawing practice times.
Class requirements for completion:
Completion of assigned projects. Assembled portfolio of all class work.(Includes
files on disk, selected hard copy.) Participating in the drawing and written
tests.
Students requiring special services or
arrangements because of hearing, visual, or other disability should contact
their instructor, counselor or the Disabled Student Services Office. Occupational/Vocational
students-Limited English language skills will not be a barrier to admittance
to and participation in Vocational Education Programs.
Students are expected to exercise academic
honesty and integrity. Violations such as cheating and plagiarism will
result in disciplinary action which may include recommendation for dismissal.
