Native Speakers Option
After completing the Spanish major, students transferring to a four-year institution will be prepared for additional study in Spanish.

Spanish A.A. Degree Non-Native Speakers Option 1
Program Learning Outcomes: After completing this degree a student will:
- be able to converse in Spanish at the basic level.
- demonstrate proper conjugation of verbs; in the written and oral form.
SPAN 1A Elementary Spanish 5 units
SPAN 1B Elementary Spanish 5 units
SPAN 2A Intermediate Spanish 5 units
SPAN 2B Intermediate Spanish 5 units
Total Units for Major: 20 UNITS
Plus completion of general education requirements units vary
Total Units Required for A.A.: minimum of 60 UNITS
Spanish A.A. Degree Non-Native Speakers Option 2
Program Learning Outcomes: After completing this degree a student will:
- be able to write in Spanish.
- be able to demonstrate the use of proper grammar and syntax when writing paragraphs.
Note: Students with two years of high school Spanish are advised to take this option.
SPAN 1B Elementary Spanish 5 units
SPAN 2A Intermediate Spanish 5 units
SPAN 2B Intermediate Spanish 5 units
Choose one course from following list:
SPAN 12A Spanish for Spanish Speakers (5 units)
SPAN 12B Spanish for Spanish Speakers - Intermediate/Advanced (5 units)
SPAN 23 Independent Study (3 units minimum)
3-5 units
Total Units for Major: 18-20 UNITS

Total Units Required for A.A.: minimum of 60 UNITS

Program Learning Outcomes: After completing this degree a student will:
- be able to write in Spanish.
