ENGL12D: TUTORING WRITERS: RESEARCH
Compositional theory and responses to writing across the curriculum will be covered. In addition, students will gain from inquiry questions and conduct research on tutoring methods, while participating in a community of writers that connects them to their own writing practice. ADVISORY: Eligible for English 1A.
- Students will plan, formulate, and conduct their own research about writing and/or tutoring, requiring them to restate facts and assumptions, describe people and conditions, and explain the challenges and potential benefits inherent in any tutoring relationship.
- Students will develop inquiry questions; debate, criticize, question, and compose responses to current pedagogical theory; and participate in discussions about writing center research
- Students will observe and conduct research on writing practices across the curriculum, analyzing effective strategies to help developing and transfer-level writers.
