CD11A: ADMIN/PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN
The principles and practices of the organization and administration of facilities for preschool aged children. Areas covered include organizational structure, budgeting, personnel policies and practices, records, statistics, reporting, relationship with community resources, regulatory agencies, and parents. ADVISORY: Child Development 1 and 2.
- Students will be able to describe major management theories and child development theories relevant to establishing and maintaining a child development program and how such theories relate to a program's philosophy
- Students will be able to describe the various state and federal regulations specific to licensing, labor law, the Americans with Disabilities Act as they pertain to program operations
- Students will be able to define what management is and explain the major responsibilities of managers in child development programs
- Students will be able to identify how cultural diversity relates to engaging families in programs and building staff-family partnerships
- Students will be able to compare and contrast child development program managers' and leaders' skills, styles, and strengths in implementing effective programs
- Students will be able to describe the different aspects of personnel management and the importance of providing professional development for program staff
- Students will be able to explain fiscal management, food services management, health and safety management and how these work to keep programs operating safely for children.
- Students will be able to describe how appropriate marketing will attract and retain customers
