CSIS574: ACT FOR WRITING
This course provides instruction in effective use of assistive computer technology for writing assistance. Students with disabilities will learn how to use text-to-speech and word predictive programs for improved writing skills. Special emphasis will be placed in vocabulary development, prewriting and editing for correct spelling, word usage and research facilitation.
- Student will display correct usage of writing and word prediction tools of text-to-speech software.
- Students will utilize the dictionary and thesaurus features within the text-to-speech software to increase vocabulary development.
- Students will employ text-to-speech writing tools to correct spelling errors and incorrect word usage, including homonyms.
- Students will explore pre-writing, editing and research techniques while using the text-to-speech software.
